This is the first studio album from Lighting Hopkins since bad diagnosis in 1951. When you buy a Lighting Hopkins album, you know exactly what you’re getting! There is no doubt that Lighting Hopkins has talent. Blues Train is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
Coffee Blues is amazing and different song. Simple and heartfelt closing track Long Way From Texas closes Blues Train on a high note. Mad As I Can Be is probably the highlight of the album. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Gotta Move is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Everybody`s Down On Me has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Freight Train is a good listen every once in a while. This is one hell of a track. Don’t Think I’m Crazy is just simply stunning. Music and lyrics of Dirty House Blues creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Everything Happens To Me I just LOVE this mix! I Wonder Why is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Buck Dance Boogie is the funkiest number on the album. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Mad As I Can Be (Alternate Unreleased Take) is my favorite song on Blues Train.
