eleven years ago, Lipps, Inc. briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Cryin’ Over You”. On 4 album, Lipps, Inc. have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Lipps, Inc.’s debut, ‘4′, does not fit easily into one genre. Smart music for smart people.
Outside of the singles, my favorite song on 4 is Cryin’ Over You. Addicted To The Night is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. On To You is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Never Could Be Sorry - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. I’ve found myself listening to Choir Practice back to back and back many times. Obsessed is the most memorable and astounding. Let’s Go Back To The Floor (6:46) - awsome.
