Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Louis Armstrong comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. There is so much to love about Louis Armstrong, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the first studio album from Louis Armstrong since bad diagnosis in 1957. Overall, I would highly recommend Basin Street Blues CD.
Indiana is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Basin Street Blues is simply astounding. Tiger Rag - a classic song. In Struttin’ With Some Barbecue Louis Armstrong is at his best. Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? is outstanding work of Louis Armstrong. In On The Sunny Side Of The Street the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. When The Saints Go Marching In is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. I now have You Can Depend On Me as one of my personal favorites. Album opener Baby, It’s Cold Outside is a bright, upbeat ditty. Some of the arrangements found on Basin Street Blues are surprisingly edgy.
