Bluing - Miles Davis Plays The Blues 1951-56 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Miles Davis on ‘Bluing’. Since completing 1957’s ‘Bluing’, Miles Davis fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. To me Miles Davis is the best band ever.
This is one hell of a track. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Bluing - Miles Davis Plays The Blues 1951-56. Miles Davis sings Green Haze in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Within the first few notes of Dr. Jackle it’s perfectly clear that Miles Davis is living this song. After about the third No Line listen through, I began to believe this song is Miles Davis’s essence. Vierd Blues is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Trane’s Blues is exquisite and different song. Miles Davis breathes new life into the music in Blues By Five.
