Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Moby Grape’s new album to that on ‘Long Gone’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Self-described as Country with lots of words, Moby Grape comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. There were many famous songs of Moby Grape available. If I may, I suggest “Indifference”. That one song is amazing!
Mr Blues is simply perfect. Sitting By The Window is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Moby Grape released so far. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Sweet Ride is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. I think Grape Jams is the best song Moby Grape has ever done. Murder In My Heart For The Judge has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. You have to get essence of the Gypsy Wedding’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Still going through Long Gone and coming to appreciate I Am Not Willing more and more with every listen. Trucking Man is possibly the best song Moby Grape has come up. Sitting By The Window - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. When I listen to Fall On You in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Murder In My Heart For The Judge is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Moby Grape sings Omaha in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. If You Can’t Learn From My Mistakes (2:39) - awsome. Trucking Man has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Moby Grape’s strong vocals come to the fore. After you’ve listened to Ain’t That A Shame, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. I like the idea behind Five To Eight.
