Ofra Haza’s debut, ‘Shir Hashrim’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is the first studio album from Ofra Haza since bad diagnosis in 1978. Since Ofra Haza last CD (Shir Hashrim) on Blue Note Records back in 1978, I have felt a massive void in my life. Great Ethnic right here!
Song Shir Hashirim Besha’ashuim is actually a funny song. Balada La Melech without a doubt is the standout song of Shir Hashrim. Ofra Haza is one of artists that allow his songs like Shir Ha’shirim Le Shlomo to stand on their own and be heard. Ani Yeshena Ve Libi Er is outstanding work of Ofra Haza. No Ofra Haza song has come close to capturing my attention as Hayafa Banashim did. Achot Lanu Ketana is the most memorable and marvelous. Ahava Beta’anugim is the albums biggest surprise. Music and lyrics of Ro’e Ba’shoshanim creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Aza Ka’mavet was the first single release from the album Shir Hashrim. Al Mishkavi Ba Leilot which is my favorite is a truly Ofra Haza sounding song.
