Omara Portuondo and Martin Rojas isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Omara Portuondo energies, virtually a rebirth. I am not a real Ethnic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Omara Portuondo and Martin Rojas’ really is amazing. If you love Omara Portuondo as much as I do, then Omara Portuondo Omara Portuondo and Martin Rojas is the CD for you!
Cuento para un Nino - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. El Desierto y La Lluvia - A strong beat. A Salvador Allende en Su Combate por la Vita is perfect song though, very addictive. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Chile Presente. Lagrimas Negras - My least favorite song on this album. A great put together song. Omara Portuondo and Martin Rojas couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Hasta Siempre. No Omara Portuondo song has come close to capturing my attention as Gracias a la Vida did. Te Doy Una Cancion great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Pajarillo Verde is a medium tempo tune. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. El Manicero is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Siboney is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Although Ayer el Sol is very melodic it is far from sad. Omara Portuondo emotions are reflected through Veinte Anos. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Los Caminos from the beginning to the end.
