Lead single “DON’T MEAN A THING” and “IN A MELLOTONE” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. twelve years ago, Oscar Peterson briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “IN A MELLOTONE”. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Stuff Smith Dizzy Gillespie Oscar Peterson (CD 2)’ really is amazing. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
IN A MELLOTONE make listening to Oscar Peterson like being in some sort of time warp. Oscar Peterson rocks harder than ever with HEAT WAWE. BODY AND SOUL - another great track from the Stuff Smith Dizzy Gillespie Oscar Peterson (CD 2) album. RIO PAKISTAN is one of the more up-tempo songs on Stuff Smith Dizzy Gillespie Oscar Peterson (CD 2). IT’S ONLY A PAPER MOON - A strong beat. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. RUSSIAN LULLABY has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Oscar Peterson’s strong vocals come to the fore. OH, LADY BE GOOD! is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion.
