Otis Spann Bottom of the Blues MP3

Otis Spann Bottom of the Blues imageSince Otis Spann last CD (Bottom of the Blues) on Columbia Records back in 1968, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Heart Loaded With Trouble” and “Diving Duck” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Otis Spann was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Otis Spann and Bottom of the Blues together. Smart music for smart people.

I can’t stop playing Diving Duck. Shimmy Baby is simple, dignified and effective, Otis Spann refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. The song Looks Like Twins ending is my favorite… so catchy! I’m A Fool which is my favorite is a truly Otis Spann sounding song. Charming song, great melody. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Nobody Knows one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. In Doctor Blues Otis Spann is at his best.
