Otis Spann’s debut, ‘Good Morning Mr. Blues’, does not fit easily into one genre. Now signed to Otis Spann’s Capitol Records, the title track from second album “Good Morning Mr. Blues” leads Otis Spann’s back-to-school campaign. This is what good Blues should be.
Love, Love, Love is a song to enjoy for years to come. River Side Blues stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This track is clearly meant to showcase Otis Spann’s vocal abilities. Jelly Roll Baker is another favourite of mine. As always, Otis Spann’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Music and lyrics of Worried Life Blues creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. This is one hell of a track. Spann S Boogie is excellent and different song. I loved Don’t You Know the first time I heard it. I’ve found myself listening to Goin Down Slow back to back and back many times. The Skys Are Blue is a astounding, simple song by Otis Spann at the top of his game. What sets Keep Your Hands Out Of My Pocket apart is Otis Spann’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. When I listen to Boots and Shoes in my car when traffic ain’t going so good.
