Since Paul Mauriat last CD (Rhythm and Blues) on Capitol Records back in 1969, I have felt a massive void in my life. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Paul Mauriat has. Rhythm and Blues is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Such great and happy songs.
Within the first few notes of It’s A Man’s Man’s World it’s perfectly clear that Paul Mauriat is living this song. Paul Mauriat allows each song to breathe and flourish. The opening track (What A) Wonderful World is very much like you would expect from other albums. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Respect one of the best in my collection. I listened to the opening track When A Man Loves A Woman and liked it a lot. Unchain My Heart is a medium tempo tune. I’ve Been Loving You Too Long great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Love Child has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This is one hell of a track. I’m Gonna Make You Love Me is one of the coolest songs Paul Mauriat has ever recorded.
