Phil Coulter had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. This album has some very good songs like Annie Laurie and Flower Of Scotland. Scottish Tranquility isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I Love Scottish Tranquility from start to finish!
Flower Of Scotland - This one is lively and fun. The Rowam Tree is absolutely incredible. Ye Banks And Braes still maintains something of a specific flourish. Lochnagar is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Eriskay Love Lilt. Westering H is perfect. Will Ye No Come Back Again is a striking and quite long song. Loch Lomand is the more seemingly obscure song on Scottish Tranquility that bear up best to repeated listening. I can’t stop playing Amazing Grace. Don’t judge The Skye Boat Song on the first listening. This track is a great song that still never gets old. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Red Red Rose - Bonny Mary Of Argyll because the melody in the chorus is so good. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Phil Coulter. When listening to Dark Island, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Auld Lang Syne - I like this one. No Awa’ Tae Bide Awa’. Scotlan is nothing but pure genius.
