fifteen years ago, Reinhard Mey briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Und fn Mhen”. On Ich Wollte Wie Orpheus Singen album, Reinhard Mey have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I am not a real Chanson music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Ich Wollte Wie Orpheus Singen’ really is amazing. If you want to hear real Chanson, get this record now!
Vocals of Reinhard Mey in Und fn Mhen really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. The sound of Fast ein Liebeslied is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Once you hear Fr in der Grotadt, you will listen to it over and over. Begegnung is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. This song may be the most meaningful. Das Alles war ich ohne dich to me is the best you can get from Reinhard Mey. Ich denk es war ein gutes Jahr - Okay, I just talked about depth. In meiner Stadt - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Das Lied von der Stranbahn - This one is lively and fun. A great put together song. I can’t stop humming along Das Lied von der Zeitung. I like the idea behind Novemberlied. Abscheuliches Lied fcheuliche Leute stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely.
