On the Russia charts, superstar Rick James and Stone City Band’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. For older fans Street Songs will put a massive smile accross your face. Now signed to Rick James and Stone City Band’s Savoy Records, the title track from second album “Street Songs” leads Rick James and Stone City Band’s back-to-school campaign. I wish that “Street Songs” album was instrumental.
In Ghetto Life it becomes nowhere more obvious that Rick James and Stone City Band has yet to define own style. Some call Make Love To Me from Street Songs as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Mr. Policeman is probably one of Rick James and Stone City Band’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Fire And Desire stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Call Me Up sets the tone for the entire album. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Below The Funk (Pass The J) is my favorite song on Street Songs.
