five years ago, Robin Trower briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Bridge Of Sighs”. This album has some very good songs like About To Begin and Bridge Of Sighs. Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Robin Trower comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Exciting stuff.
Bridge Of Sighs is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Day Of The Eagle has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Robin Trower’s strong vocals come to the fore. In This Place is the more seemingly obscure song on Bridge Of Sighs that bear up best to repeated listening. It’s such an underrated song. Little Bit Of Sympathy catches attention immediately, Voice of Robin Trower in The Fool and Me is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. In Too Rolling Stoned the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
