Hear has compared writing for Roosevelt Sykes’s new album to that on ‘The Honeydripper’s Duke’s Mixture’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Roosevelt Sykes’s debut, ‘The Honeydripper’s Duke’s Mixture’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Roosevelt Sykes breathes new life into the music in Ice Cream Freezer. Album opener Lost My Boogie is a bright, upbeat ditty. Sweet Georgia Brown gives taste of what makes Roosevelt Sykes special as a musician. St. James Infirmary is a perfect, simple song by Roosevelt Sykes at the top of his game. Honeysuckle Rose is a strong cut, one of many. Basin Street Blues is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Rock Me (2:37) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Dirty Mother For You can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Roosevelt Sykes is all about.
