After debuting at No. 1 last week, Rory Gallagher’s album Stage struck falls to No. 2 with 695,000, a sales slide of 61%. After seeing Shinkicker, I had to have a good Rory Gallagher cd. I am not a real Rock: Blues music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Stage struck’ really is amazing. Smart music for smart people.
Wayward Child I just LOVE this mix! In Brute Force and Ignorance you won’t find any flashy solos. Moonchild is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Bad Penny is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Keychain because the melody in the chorus is so good. I have all of Rory Gallagher’s tracks and Follow Me is probably the most his introspective effort. Bought and Sold - A nice song. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: The Last Of The Independents, which shows, blatantly, how much Rory Gallagher has evolved as a singer. Shadow Play stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty.
