There is no doubt that Savoy Brown has talent. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Savoy Brown on ‘Ain’t Superstitious’. two years ago, Savoy Brown briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Let Me Love You Baby”. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Shake Down.
A great put together song. Black Night is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. This song may be the most meaningful. This track is clearly meant to showcase Savoy Brown’s vocal abilities. Although I Smell Trouble is very melodic it is far from sad. Some call Pretty Woman from Shake Down as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Little Girl is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Savoy Brown released so far. Doormouse Rides The Rails great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Shake Down is It’s All My Fault. Shake ‘em On Down - A strong beat.
