This ten-song debut EP shows the promise that Silly Wizard has. Since Silly Wizard last CD (So Many Partings) on Columbia Records back in 1980, I have felt a massive void in my life. After seeing A Scarce O’Tatties/Lyndhurst, I had to have a good Silly Wizard cd. Silly Wizard is one of my favourite bands of all time.
This track is clearly meant to showcase Silly Wizard’s vocal abilities. Bridget O’Malley - Check out that bassline! I have all of Silly Wizard’s tracks and A.A. Cameron’s Strathspey/Mrs. Martha… is probably the most his introspective effort. I like to sing along with Donald McGillavry/O’Neill’s Cavalry March, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. The Highland Clearances (2:23) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Miss Catherine Brosnan - A catchy, upbeat tune. I listened to the opening track Wi’ My Dog and Gun and liked it a lot. Miss Shepherd/Sweeney’s Buttermilk… one of the best in my collection.
