Since Social Distortion last CD (1983 - Mommy’s Little Monster) on Savoy Records back in 1983, I have felt a massive void in my life. This disc has all of the essential Social Distortion classics. ‘1983 - Mommy’s Little Monster’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. 1983 - Mommy’s Little Monster is not something you should pass up.
Another State of Mind have really caught my ear and imagination. In It Wasn’t A Pretty Picture full palet of sound is used by Social Distortion to accentuate the presentation. Social Distortion must have run out of lyrics on the next track Telling Them. The sound of Hour of Darkness is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Mommy’s Little Monster is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Anti-Fashion one of the best in my collection. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Mommy’s Little Monster (bonus) is simple, dignified and effective, Social Distortion refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
