It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Sonny Boy Williamson energies, virtually a rebirth. It has been five years Sonny Boy Williamson’ last studio CD, “The Essential Sonny Boy Williamson CD2″ which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This is the first studio album from Sonny Boy Williamson since bad diagnosis in 1964. Sonny Boy Williamson is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Santa Claus is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. This is one hell of a track. Temperature 110 is the albums biggest surprise. As always, Sonny Boy Williamson’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. You have to get essence of the Somebody Help Me’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Down Child is probably the most interesting track on The Essential Sonny Boy Williamson CD2. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Sonny Boy Williamson. A fantastic track full of wonder. In Too Young To Die full palet of sound is used by Sonny Boy Williamson to accentuate the presentation. A great put together song. Stop Right Now which is my favorite is a truly Sonny Boy Williamson sounding song. Listening to Too Old To Think you can hear that Sonny Boy Williamson has still amazing chemistry with band members. One Way Out - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Nine Below Zero is astounding. Help Me - another great track from the The Essential Sonny Boy Williamson CD2 album. Bye Bye Bird is worth the money. Bring It On Home is a very catchy tune. Decoration Day - A catchy, upbeat tune. Trying To Get Back On My Feet is one of my favorite songs by Sonny Boy Williamson. Close To Me is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Sonny Boy Williamson emotions are reflected through I Can’t Be Alone.
