‘The Sound of Sonny’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It’s natural for Sonny Rollins to take a stab at ‘The Last Time I Saw Paris’ considering her long-professed love for Green Grey. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Sonny Rollins. The Sound of Sonny is the best essence of Sonny Rollins.
Just In Time is absolutely incredible. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Strong, powerful vocals of Sonny Rollins in What Is There To Say are very impressive. Dearly Beloved is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye one of the best in my collection. Cutie is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. It Could Happen To You the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. The sound in Mangoes is really warm and Sonny Rollins’s signature voice is still very much present. Funky Hotel Blues is worth the money.
