Now signed to Stan Getz’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Summertime (with Joao Gilberto)” leads Stan Getz’s back-to-school campaign. Since Stan Getz last CD (Summertime (with Joao Gilberto)) on Columbia Records back in 1964, I have felt a massive void in my life. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Stan Getz’s new album to that on ‘Summertime (with Joao Gilberto)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Another great offering from Stan Getz.
It took me a little time but I ended up loving Desafinado. Tonight I Shall Sleep With A Smile On My Face to me is the best you can get from Stan Getz. Stan Getz has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. All of songs on Summertime (with Joao Gilberto) and have something to say letting alone Stan’s Blues. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Samba De Minha Terra defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. I like to sing along with Bim Bom, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Lyrics of Meditation are precise and evocative. Un Abraco No Bonfa is the first taste of the new album. Meditacao I just LOVE this mix! A Felicidade is the albums biggest surprise. The Singing Song is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Stan Getz is hitting on all cylinders in Here’s That Rain Day. Music in Summertime is marvelous as in all tracks of Summertime (with Joao Gilberto). Stan Getz sings Six - Nix - Quix - Flix in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved.
