Stanley Clarke was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Stanley Clarke and The Clarke and Duke Project 2 together. There is no doubt that Stanley Clarke has talent. While no new Stanley Clarke album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1983 tour in Europe. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
What sets Heroes apart is Stanley Clarke’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Try Me Baby is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. The first time I listened to Every Reason To Smile I was struck by its excellent sound. Great Danes has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Stanley Clarke’s strong vocals come to the fore. I was truly moved when I heard The Good Times. As always, Stanley Clarke’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Trip You In Love is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. Atlanta is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside.
