On Last Years Waltz album, Steve Kuhn have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I am not a real Avantgarde music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Last Years Waltz’ really is amazing. Self-described as Avantgarde with lots of words, Steve Kuhn comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
I like to sing along with the drinking song, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. last year’s waltz is a medium tempo tune. Nice and different song. In mexico you won’t find any flashy solos. the fruit fly - a classic song. I now have the feeling within as one of my personal favorites. medley old folks is simple, dignified and effective, Steve Kuhn refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. confirmation presents the excellent mix of instruments on Last Years Waltz. the city of dallas - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem.
