After debuting at No. 1 last week, Steve Reid’s album Nova falls to No. 2 with 513,000, a sales slide of 93%. Steve Reid was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Steve Reid and Nova together. Lead single “Nova” and “Lions Of Juda” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. To me Steve Reid is the best band ever.
In Lions Of Juda you won’t find any flashy solos. You have to get essence of the Free Spirits - Unknown’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Long Time Black is just simply stunning. Steve Reid sings his heart out in Sixth House.
