The Art Tatum was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from The Art Tatum and The Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces - 7 together. When you buy a The Art Tatum album, you know exactly what you’re getting! There is so much to love about The Art Tatum, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. No The Art Tatum song has come close to capturing my attention as Prisoner of Love did. Moonglow is one of the best records ever. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. In I Can’t Give You Anything But Love The Art Tatum is at his best. I like to sing along with Lullaby in Rhythm, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Out of Nowhere - This is a very lively song. I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. It’s Only a Paper Moon has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets The Art Tatum’s strong vocals come to the fore. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on The Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces - 7. I Only Have Eyes for You catches attention immediately, On the Sunny Side of the Street - Okay, I just talked about depth. Do Nothin’ Till You Hear from Me gives good insight into the truths. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. If you are a The Art Tatum fan, you will love If You Hadn’t Gone Away. I like Please Be Kind because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Someone to Watch Over Me is a medium tempo tune. A great put together song. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Humoresque is a cool, simple song by The Art Tatum at the top of his game.
