IF YOU LIKE ALL The Birthday Party’S SONG GO FOR IT! This is the first studio album from The Birthday Party since bad diagnosis in 1982. On Junk Yard album, The Birthday Party have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
In She’s Hit The Birthday Party spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Dead Joe is a exquisite sing-along. The Dim Locator is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Hamlet (Pow, Pow, Pow). Several Sins is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The Birthday Party released so far. Big-Jesus-Trash-Can - I just love it. Kiss Me Black is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. I can’t stop playing 6″ Gold Blade. I came to like Kewpie Doll. Junkyard has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets The Birthday Party’s strong vocals come to the fore. Dead Joe one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Release The Bats is astounding.
