There is no doubt that The Ventures has talent. After seeing Walk Don’t Run, I had to have a good The Ventures cd. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Ventures energies, virtually a rebirth. If you want to hear real Ethnic, get this record now!
As always, The Ventures’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Rebel Rouser is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Music in Apache is marvelous as in all tracks of The Ventures Collection. I can’t stop humming along Bulldog. Pipeline is one of my favorite songs by The Ventures. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. I like to sing along with Tequila, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Wheels gives good insight into the truths. Bumble Bee Rock is a exquisite sing-along. Still going through The Ventures Collection and coming to appreciate Slaughter On The 10th Avenue more and more with every listen. This track is clearly meant to showcase The Ventures’s vocal abilities. Perfidia is absolutely incredible. Let’s Go is simply amazing. Green Onions - For me, this is the best of the album. The Ventures sings his heart out in Raunchy. Best song on the album, love it. Rock Nuts - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on The Ventures Collection is Walk Don’t Run ‘64. Wipe Out one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. When listening to Guitar Boogie Shuffle, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Ventures Collection. In Diamond Head you won’t find any flashy solos. Driving Guitars is the song that really did it for me. From the moment you listen to Sleepwalk you’re hooked.
