This is the first studio album from Thelonious Monk since bad diagnosis in 1968. Since completing 1968’s ‘Let’s Cool One’, Thelonious Monk fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This six-song debut EP shows the promise that Thelonious Monk has. Monk’s Blues constantly brilliant.
I like Reflections because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. The sound in Rootie Tootie is really warm and Thelonious Monk’s signature voice is still very much present. After about the third Just A Glance At Love listen through, I began to believe this song is Thelonious Monk’s essence. Brilliant Corners catches attention immediately,
