While no new Verdi, Giuseppe album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1952 tour in Africa. This is the first studio album from Verdi, Giuseppe since bad diagnosis in 1952. Lead single “Preludio” and “Act 1 - Che Faceste? Dite Su!” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
Act 1 - Che Faceste? Dite Su! - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Verdi, Giuseppe. The song feels complete. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Act 1 - Due Vaticini Compiuti Or Sono - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Put Act 1 - S’allontanarono! into car stereo for your highway driving Act 1 - Nel Di’ Della Vittoria Io Le Incontrai - I just love it. Act 1 - Vieni! T’affretta! - Okay, I just talked about depth. Don’t judge Act 1 - Al Cader Della Sera Il Re Qui Giunge on the first listening. Act 1 - Or Tutti Sorgete, Ministri Infernali is a perfect song and it grows on you. Get Macbeth. Act One, Act Two and turn on Act 1 - Oh, Donna Mia if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Act 1 - Sappia La Sposa Mia is absolutely incredible. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Act 1 - Fatal Mia Donna! Un Murmure on Macbeth. Act One, Act Two is solid and easy to listen to. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Macbeth. Act One, Act Two. Act 1 - Il Pugnal La’ Riportate is probably the most interesting track on Macbeth. Act One, Act Two. Act 1 - Di Destarlo Per Tempo Il Re M’impose is nothing but pure genius. Act 1 - Schiudi, Inferno makes a person feel exquisite. A unique and uplifting song. Verdi, Giuseppe breathes new life into the music in Act 2 - La Luce Langue. Act 2 - Chi V’impose Unirvi A Noi? is one of my favorite songs by Verdi, Giuseppe. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Macbeth. Act One, Act Two. Music of Act 2 - Come Dal Ciel Precipita is gentle, never overbearing. In Act 2 - Salve, O Re! Verdi, Giuseppe is at his best. Act 2 - Si Colmi Il Calice is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Act 2 - Tu Di Sangue Hai Brutto Il Volto had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Act 2 - Che Ti Scosta O Re Mio Sposo sets the tone for the entire album. I believe Act 2 - Si Colmi Il Calice is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. Act 2 - Sangue A Me Quell’ombra Chiede is simple, dignified and effective, Verdi, Giuseppe refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
