Since completing 1967’s ‘Act I: Vorspiel (Orchester)’, Wagner, Richard fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Wagner, Richard on ‘Act I: Vorspiel (Orchester)’. This is the first studio album from Wagner, Richard since bad diagnosis in 1967. This album is in perfect progression from Wagner, Richard!
In Act I. Scene 1: Wes Herd Dies Auch Sei, Hier Muss Uch Rasten (Siegmund, Sieglinde) Wagner, Richard spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Act I. Scene 1: Kuehlende Labung Gab Mir Der Quell (Siegmund, Sieglinde) is outstanding work of Wagner, Richard. Act I. Scene 2: Mued Am Herd Fand Ich Den Mann (Sieglinde, Hunding, Siegmund) is the funkiest number on the album. I believe Act I. Scene 2: Friedmund Darf Ich Nicht Heissen (Siegmund, Hunding, Sieglinde) is one of the most perfect, heartfelt songs ever written. The song feels complete. No Wagner, Richard song has come close to capturing my attention as Act I. Scene 2: Ich Weiss Ein Wildes Geschlecht (Hunding) did. Act I. Scene 3: Ein Schwert Verhiess Mir Der Vater (Siegmund, Sieglinde) is a great opener for Die Walkure. Act I. Scene 3: Der Maenner Sippe Sass Hier Im Saal (Sieglinde, Siegmund) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Act I. Scene 3: Wehwalt Heisst Du Furwahr? - Siegmund Heiss Ich (Sieglinde, Siegmund) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Act I: Vorspiel (Orchester) is another favourite of mine. Act Ii. Scene 1: Nun Zaeume Dein Ross - Hojotoho - Der Alte Sturm, Die Alte Mueh’! (Wotan, Fricka) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. It’s such an underrated song. Act Ii. Scene 1: Was Verlangst Du? - Dort Kommt Deine Kuenne Maid (Wotan, Fricka, Bruennhilde) which is my favorite is a truly Wagner, Richard sounding song. I can’t stop humming along Act Ii. Scene 2: Schlimm, Fuercht Ich, Schloss Der Streit (Bruennhilde, Wotan). This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Act Ii. Scene 2: Ein Andres Ist’s: Achte Es Wohl (Wotan, Bruennhilde) - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Strong, powerful vocals of Wagner, Richard in Act Ii. Scene 2: So Sah Ich Siegvater Nie (Bruennhilde) are very impressive. Act Ii. Scene 3: Raste Nun Hier, Goenne Dir Ruh! - Hinweg! Hinweg! Flieh Die Entweihte (Siegmund, Sieglinde) (6:36) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Act Ii. Scene 4: Siegmund, Sieh Auf Mich! - Hehr Bist Du (Bruennhilde, Siegmund) motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Act Ii. Scene 4: Du Sahest Der Walkuere Sehrenden Blick (Bruennhilde, Siegmund) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. In Act Ii. Scene 5: Zauberfest Bezaehmt - Kehrte Der Vater Nun Heim (Siegmund, Sieglinde, Bruennhilde, Wotan) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Act Iii. Scene 1: Schuetzt Mich Und Helft Mir In Hoechster Not (Bruennhilde, Walkueren) is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Act Iii. Scene 1: Nicht Sehre Dich - Fort Denn Eile. Scene 2: Wo Ist Bruennhild’, Wo Die Verbrecherin? (Sieglinde, Bruennhilde, Walkueren, Wotan) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. As always, Wagner, Richard’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I hope to keep hearing Wagner, Richard works for a long time to come. I like the agression and power of Act Iii. Scene 3: Du Zeugtest Ein Edles Geschlecht - In Festen Schlaf (Bruennhilde, Wotan). Opening track Act Iii. Scene 3: Leb Wohl, Du Kuehnes, Herrliches Kind! (Wotan) shows the best of Wagner, Richard. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time.
