Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Wayne Shorter comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This disc has all of the essential Wayne Shorter classics. This nine-song debut EP shows the promise that Wayne Shorter has. Second Genesis touched my soul like nothing else.
I Didn’t Know What Time It Was is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Getting To Know You is simple, dignified and effective, Wayne Shorter refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Voice and instruments in The Albatross complement each other. Once Tenderfoot gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. It’s such an underrated song. Second Genesis is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Pay As You Go - Well, here we get a bit more meaning.
