Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Wilson Simonal comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Wilson Simonal energies, virtually a rebirth. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Wilson Simonal has. De Noite, Na Cama and Gemedeira is really good.
Gemedeira is probably the highlight of the album. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Jyia. Wilson Simonal must have run out of lyrics on the next track Tristeza. Album opener Tudo E Magnfico is a bright, upbeat ditty. Lampi Em Prosas e Versos is simple, dignified and effective, Wilson Simonal refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Garoa Diferente is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Voce Abusou had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Na Galha Do Cajueiro is just simply stunning. Fotografia - Check out that bassline! In BONUS: Ourico it becomes nowhere more obvious that Wilson Simonal has yet to define own style. Music in BONUS: frica, frica is excellent as in all tracks of Jyia.
