Self-described as New Age with lots of words, Yellow Magic Orchestra comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Yellow Magic Orchestra energies, virtually a rebirth. It has been six years Yellow Magic Orchestra’ last studio CD, “Naughty Boys” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Kimi Ni Mune Kyun and Expected Way is really good.
Expected Way is a medium tempo tune. Focus is perfect. Album opener Ongaku is a bright, upbeat ditty. Opened My Eyes - Yellow Magic Orchestra first major hit. You’ve Got To Help Yourself - To me, this is the best song on the Naughty Boys. Lotus Love is a bit different from Yellow Magic Orchestra stereotypical stuff. Once you hear Kai-Koh, you will listen to it over and over. A fantastic track full of wonder. Listening to Wild Ambitions you can hear that Yellow Magic Orchestra has still amazing chemistry with band members.
